We contacted the council numerous times about this as it presented a health and safety issues as other residents bath water was coming up through our bath and food coming up through the sink. However, we were told by our local RMO that it's wasn't there problem but ours. It was later revealed that it was their problem and the fault of their own ignorance that caused it.
Within a couple of months, the biggest disaster that we have ever witness in our home happened. This could have been prevented if those in the local council office took the time to investigate what was happening with the plumbing.
What lurks beneath the bath?
SHOCKING STUFF!
When we got flooded on July 17th 2009, the carpet had to be taken up, then we found out by an insurance company that the brown tile that were under the carpet, had Asbestos in them.
Eventually on November 17th 2009, those tiles were removed by specialist floor contractors. We were left with a dusty, grainy concrete floor to walk on. No further work were done on the floor until April 2010. The whole concrete floor was suppose to have a Latex screed, but was only patch in small areas. These four pictures show the result of the floor from the day the flood happened.
