One of my first letters about boiler

This letter was sent to Chris Weston of Centrina (address was omitted)

27 Sep 2014

Dear Sir/Madam,

I've been having problems with the new boiler which was installed around 2 weeks ago. It has been causing problems from day one till now. From Sunday 21st Sept, I've contacted a number of people and departments none of which have come back to me. This boiler is a serious problem. We've had water leakage, faulty and noisy pump that doesn't walk and now all the pipes around the flat are rumbling and reverberating very loudly like a generator.

The whole works need to be done again it's a complete shambles. I am now being forced to have a new pump installed rather that the whole works to be done again. I didn't ask for any of this in the first place they just bought it in. All of this is being done to me under duress and I am being taken advantage of.

Also, I was promised a refund for a lesser performance boiler than the original Pottterson boiler which no one has got back to me on. No one was bothered to fix the waster or check to water flow issue. I asked for the contact of and Charles Doherty and Mark Crowther but no one has issued me the correct information. I feel that they have run off with my money. The water damage to my sofa, carpet and wall from the leaking living room radiator valve has still not been compensated for or mention and no apology.

To date, I feel like I've been deceived and tricked into taking on this secondary boiler. They've taken full liberties of a vulnerable individual.

Please could you get back to me within 3 days

Ms M. Taylor

Photos of Problems caused by British Gas

A lot of the problems British Gas caused involve leaking pipes, rattling pipes, leak from radiator valve, damage to wall because of the leak from valve, low pressure readings and a noisy turbo pump.

British Gas let down!

These two boilers that were installed by British Gas have caused nothing but problems and chaos. The first two photos are of the Volkera 28SE boiler they installed in Sept 2014. This boiler was only 2 year guarantee/warranty even though we clearly stated in the beginning that we wanted a 7-10 guarantee/waranty boiler. From the first week of installation there were a number of problems. It leaked water, lacked water pressure, pipes were ratttling and overall just was not good for my home. They even installed a Turbo pump to get the water working, but even that failed to improve things. Not only that but the pump was extremely noisy and eventually broke down. What is even more ridiculous is why would British Gas, a highly recognised company, install a pump to a 'brand new' boiler. What they should have done is take the boiler out the moment they realise that there's a problem with it. Instead they had me wait nearly 1 year before they decided to take it out.

When they did eventually take it out, they replaced it with a boiler that has only one year guarantee/warranty. On top of that, during the installation, we discovered that this boiler was discontinued through research on the internet. When we appoached the installers, they admitted that it was a discontinued product, but still continued with the installation. We have been fighting to get this boiler removed, but the gas manager who deliberately planned to have this boiler installed says he has no plans on having it removed. At the moment, we are going through the process of different avenues like Trading Standards (there are so many) to see if we can get it removed especially as it isn't what I paid for. I paid for a 7-10yr g/w boiler, but now left with a 1year g/w boiler. I feel ripped off which is why I'm writing this post. If you would like to see the letters sent to and received from British Gas, I will try to get these available in due time.

In the beginning, I wanted to get a new boiler because I was told that there were no more parts for my original one that I had for 28 years and that my gas bill was high because of the age of the boiler. However, that boiler was in good working condition and remained so before it was taken out and replaced by these lesser quality ones.
